There are separate costs associated with setting up and maintaining an online merchant account, and these costs are determined by the bank that supplies you with it. You should expect to invest an initial amount between $200 and $300, which covers application, setup, equipment rental, and lease deposits.
If you choose not to open an online merchant account, you can still manually process orders collected on your Web site with your existing credit card processor.
